Fedration of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Fedration)

Fedration of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Fedration) was formed in May 1992 but was formally registered in December 1992 and later registered as Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) in January 2015 with the involvement of professionals, specialists, institutions and related organizations from the Information Communication Technology sector in Nepal. It is an umbrella organization with membership base ranging from ICT Institutions, Associations to Individuals working in this sector. CAN Federation works along with the lines of an autonomous, non-political, nonpartisan, nonprofitable and service oriented sector of ICT.

Implementing Partner: LBEF College

The Scholarships will be awarded to study B.Sc.(Hons.) in Information Technology at LBEF College. Students who have completed 10+2 or equivalent from recognized board or Diploma in Computer Engineering from CTEVT will be benefited with this scheme. Students who have appeared for 10+2 or equivalent examination can also apply. Girl students will be most benefited by this scheme and the reason to do so is to further the educational opportunities of young women of future generations.

Scope

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of the community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability. Employment in computer-related occupations has seen significant growth in recent years; however, the representation of women in the computer science professions has continued to decline since the 1990's. One of the possible step to reverse the trend is to encourage more female students to undertake computer science. With this objective we are planning to introduce National ICT scholarships to females and weaker sections of the society.
